The Square Peg Checks out…Circus Extreme!

Ever thought of ditching everything and running away to join the circus?….Nope!? Neither have I but thank goodness some people have…

The Square Peg’s older brother had just turned 9, so we took Matthew and his buddies (including the Square Peg) to watch a performance of Circus Extreme and O…M…G!!! We were all totally blown away by what we saw!!!

Be warned that it is absolutely NOT for the faint hearted. Be prepared for lots of gasps and screams. We bought the tickets ourselves and all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Take a look here to see for yourself.

Do we need to buy a speed pass?

I decided that it would be a good idea to buy a speed pass to avoid queuing for a long time with the Square Peg…however, in true Mummy of a Square Peg style, I hadn’t read the information properly and it turns out that you needed to buy a speed pass for each person in your party…. but they still let us all in… speedily.

I always feel guilty about using speed passes so we did start off in the queue with everyone else…but then the Square Peg started flailing around and as the ground was muddy we were all getting covered. By then, it had started to rain, so I said “right, that’s it! I’m using the speed pass.’’ A lovely member of staff showed us to the best seats. #winning

As you’ll know from some of my previous posts like The Square Peg checks out…Plymouth Raiders Edward can tolerate a lot of noise and boy this circus is noisy so be sure bring ear defenders.

Once again, Edward was fascinated and very excited by it all, until right at the very end…The last act was stunt motorcyclists. The noise went up another notch and as the bikes were flying through the air there were flame throwers. Edward didn’t like this and was getting a bit stressed by this time.

Not your average clown!

The amazing clown.

For us, it was the clown who absolutely stole the show. He was like your traditional clown with floppy shoes and a rainbow wig. You only knew he was the clown because he wore a red nose. The most exciting part was when he chose one of our buddies to get up on the stage with him. It was just hilarious!

A buddy up on stage with the clown.

The Tight Rope walkers.

My other favourite part was the traditional tight rope walkers. Their balance is absolutely tremendous particularly when they cycled across it.

The last time that I went to the circus I was 5 and I still have very vague memories of it. Times have definitely changed but this circus still had some traditional circus displays.

Circus Extreme certainly didn’t disappoint. I hope that we don’t leave it so long to visit the circus again.

  • I have always loved the circus. I remember going as a child, it had animals in so that gives you an idea how long ago it was.

One of the best i have ever been to was at Blackpool tower, if you haven’t been I highly recommend.

Glad you had a wonderful time, it is such a wonderful memory to have as a child x x
