The Square Peg’s Summer Holiday 2020 – Part 2
It’s now September and we’re all back at school. The strangest summer holidays on record seem a distant memory. So lets cheer ourselves up by reminiscing about the summer and the escapades of the Square Peg.
In part 1, I left you with Edward being sent to his school holiday club for two weeks which he loved.
Since then, we have been busy gallivanting out and about in sunny Devon making the most of being allowed to go outside.
Let me take you on a whistle stop tour of all of out exciting adventures with loads of photos.
We have been wild Blackberry picking….
…when I say ‘we’ I mean Matthew and I picked Blackberries whilst Edward played with the Teletubbies.
Our cousins came down so we went paddling in the River Erme, went to Mothecombe beach where Mummy got stung on the hand by wasp within five minutes of arriving.
However, a gorgeous artisan ice cream from the Surfing Cow helped me to get over it.
We had an evening stroll on Plymouth Hoe, a day at Cadover Bridge and a day at Bigbury-on-Sea (complete with catching a Jellyfish in a bucket.)
Then our cousins went home…
We got the paddling pool out, which didn’t quite go as Mummy planned. Matthew got cross when Edward chucked half of the garden in it.
We went to Plymbridge Woods where Matthew skimmed some stones in the river and Edward loved playing ‘Sink or float?’
We visited Lopwell Dam on a pretty miserable day. We walked along a very scary path across the dam. We got back to the time just in time for some torrential rain.
We went back to Bigbury-on-Sea for a game of beach cricket. Went for a lovely walk at Bellever Forest on Dartmoor.
Edward wasn’t really feeling the love for this walk. When we arrived back at the van, he threw himself on the floor and said, ‘I’m dead!’
Then we went out and around Burrator Reservoir on Dartmoor and we walked up Down Tor.
Then finally, one of my favourite things. One evening we took the van up onto the moors and cooked sausages and beans.
When the sun went down we had Hot Chocolate and cookies. Then gave the boys torches so they could run around in the dark.
Phew! What a summer that was! I hope you enjoyed reading about all of our outdoor escapades. Looking back we have done absolutely loads of stuff.
