The Square Peg checks out…..The Three Hares Campsite
As part of Daddy and Matthew’s Westcountry Way cycling adventure during the first week of the summer holidays, our second night was spent at The Three Hares camp site, Drewsteignton.
Edward and I arrived at the Three Hares campsite around 12pm to check in. A much smaller campsite than Langstone Manor but equally as good. No manned reception but everything that you needed to know was written out and a number to phone. The campsite owners Chinnie and Henry were very friendly and helpful.
The toilets and showers were kept very clean and there were two washing up sinks. These were outside but undercover.
We had a lovely spacious pitch with electric hook up and a hedge to the left hand side. For the kids there is a tyre swing and a rope swing.
At the bottom of the field, there is a small stream. Edward loved this and would stay there all day throwing leaves and sticks in to watch them float downstream.
In the stream and also wandering around the field were a pair of white geese. These fascinated Edward and he loved following them around the field.
During the evening, we discovered that we could rent a fire pit and logs for about £5. So this is what we did and it was lovely keeping warm by the fire in the dark.
So the Three Hares is a back to basics campsite but we absolutely adored it here. The freedom for the boys was wonderful, being able to play by the stream, the rope swings and the fire pit.
I felt that I was able to relax here. There is a lovely calm and chilled out atmosphere around the site. I am just sad that we only spent one night here and I would love to go back.
