How a square peg copes with a cold.
Poor little Edward has a stinking cold. He was up for two hours in the middle of the night. I’ve only recently noticed (and that’s only because I’m comparing him to his older brother) that he struggles to cope with a cold.
What do I mean by this? Nobody wants to have a cold and they make everyone grumpy. When Edward was up in the night, he was almost delirious, he didn’t know what to do with himself. At 2am he said ‘go downstairs and watch the telly.’ I told him no, it’s 2am and you have to go back to sleep but he wasn’t having any of it. I said well lets go downstairs for some Calpol and then go back to bed. He went straight into the lounge and switched the lamp on. He was running back and forth crying and shouting that he wants to watch the telly. I could not reason with him or convince him to go back to bed. I decided to go back upstairs and then he would come up when the Calpol kicked in. He did come upstairs but only to get a blanket then he went back downstairs and fell asleep on the sofa. At least he was able to settle.
I am a bit worried him as he also loses his appetite when he’s got a cold. If you’ve seen my previous post about the diet of a square peg you’ll know that his normal diet is already extremely limited and now he doesn’t even want that. So he’s basically been having yoghurts, fruit pouches and Rich Tea biscuits. I even took him to McDonalds in the hope that he might eat some chips but he only had a few and I ended up eating the rest…

The only consolation is that he does manage to shake off colds fairly quickly so fingers crossed this one goes soon and he can get back to his normal diet….
