An Autism Easter in Lockdown.
Spending an Easter weekend in lockdown is not what we were expecting at all. But here we are, staying at home, with glorious weather to go with it. Normally, I would be champing at the bit to get out to our beautiful local beaches in Devon, but alas, that is not to be, so we have to find other ways to entertain ourselves at home.
During Easter 2019 we also had beautiful weather and we headed out to the gorgeous Vennford reservoir in Dartmoor. Not thinking for a moment that the following Easter we would be confined to our home. Read about our visit here.
So what sort of escapades has the Square Peg been up to over the Easter weekend I hear you ask. Well, needless to say he’s thoroughly enjoyed himself and made us laugh every single day.
Good Friday
Edward enjoyed his Good Friday by tucking into some appetising bread and butter sandwiches.
We spent some time out in the front garden as there’s more room for Matthew to kick a football about, except he managed to get it stuck in a hedge. I was also able to try out my new camping chair that I got for Christmas, would love to be taking it camping but that’s not possible at the moment. All of this sunshine was just too much for Edward so he fell asleep on the sofa.
Easter Saturday
Easter Saturday was a lovely hot, sunny day. We decided to start tidying up our really overgrown garden. Edward absolutely loved helping out, he took some branches that I had cut down and made them into a den!
We also had our first BBQ of the year. Of course Edward wasn’t feeling the love for Beef Burgers so he enjoyed his cuisine of choice, Baked Beans and mash….
After the BBQ, Daddy gave them both torches and we walked to the woods to see what we could find in the dark. There is a lot of wildlife in the woods, but what did we see? That’s right, a cat! Edward still thought that the shining cats eyes were brilliant. Then, in the field next to the woods, we saw a fox! Major excitement and major fun.
Easter Sunday
Again, another lovely sunny day, but this time with added chocolate! Edward was so excited when he saw his Easter Eggs. He kept shouting ‘I WANT EGG!’ Well, it is Easter Day after all, so it’s acceptable to have chocolate for breakfast!
Then in the afternoon, we did some more hacking back of bushes in the back garden. Edward found himself a gardening hat, which he has decided to wear everytime he does some gardening.
So, as you can see, Edward had a fab Easter weekend in lockdown! He’s not bothered by anything that’s going on in the world and he’s more than happy to hang out at home.

We also spent a lot of time enjoying the sun in the garden. I love that you went for a walk through the woods in the dark. Such a great idea and a good way to spot some wildlife you wouldn’t see in the day time.

We had a huge roast one day and I made yorkshire pudding for the first time – and they worked. (That was always my Dad’s job). The rest of Easter just passed with badminton and cleaning – pretty much business as usual in this Boredom19 life….(but bored is better than the alternative so not really complaining.Just a bit…) That is one HUGE egg he got! #StayClassyMama

These have been a strange Easter holidays! We haven’t been able to see friends or go for days out to tourist attractions. The chocolate helped to make the holidays more festive #stayclassymama
