Autism Days Out

The Square Peg visits the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth.

The National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth offers a quiet SEN session on certain dates, so we went along with Edward’s little friend from junior disability football. It’s £8 a child and a carer is free.

The aquarium is great for people with sensory needs, the lights are dim and it’s calming watching fish swim around.

The best thing about this session is that there are only a few people visiting so it’s not overcrowded or overwhelming for disabled people.

Edward gets excited by absolutely everything, including a quiet visit to the aquarium, so he wasn’t quiet at all and was jumping up and down and stimming loudly.

We were round and out within an hour. It was like taking two little tornadoes with us, but both boys had a wonderful time. They had the space to move around freely which was great.

Edward can’t wait to go again an isn’t this just the cutest photo?
